I have been going through the same thing. I bought the Mac Radeon and
although I drive my monitor, there is no acceleration. Worse yet, I cannot
open the ATI display control panel. It says it doesn't detect any ATI
display. I sent in an e-mail to ATI yesterday, so maybe in a week or so, I'll
get some type of response. I have a few programs that test video besides
Nortons, and they all show the card as being slower than the built in video.

To all of you who use Nortons to test the speed of yopur computer, I found
out that Nortons has a problem with the video testing. I'm not sure what's
going on, but here's what I experienced. I have a 20" SuperMac attached to
the ATI card and a 14" multiscan attached to the built in video. I ran the
Video test part of Nortons on both screens and watched the screens while the
tests were running. It was visually obvious that the 20"/ATI was completing
the video tests much faster than the 14"/built in was, but the results showed
the 20"/ATI as being much, much slower. I'm not sure what to make of this.
Could the monitor be faster? Could the video be writing to the monitor not
being tested (virtual desktop/taking longer) and not being taken into
account? Could Nortons not be compensating for screen size? I'll be doing
some more of my own testing, once I get the ATI control panel thing figured
out. Does anyone know of a good video test program?
