When I called Iomega they asked me to play the clicks over the phone, they
identified it as the "click of death" (although they don't call it that) and
offered me the court settlement deal for those cases.

All we're saying here is that it is possible to confuse this adapter problem
with the click of death problem. But it's easier and cheap to replace the
adapter than the drive. $12 new on Iomega's site.
