Hi,

I'm a newbie to this list and to older Power Macs. I'm picking up a PM5400/120 for my kids to play with. My questions:

1. What OS should I run on this machine? LEM says, "requires System 7.5.1 through 9.1". Does anyone know which OS will give the best stability and performance?

I would not go past 8.1 without an upgrade card...you could probably get one on eBay for cheap.
Then you could put 9.1 on it. Don't bother with 9.2.2, 9.1 is more compatible and 9.2 is for those running it with X.

4. A good source for RAM?

When everyone else was tearing their hair out with non-firmware compliant ram sticks for their TiBooks, I had the very first 512 stick for the very first Ti model and it worked then and still works now. Their guarantee is tops and you will get your order promptly. They have a nice ram finder on their site and can outfit just about any Mac. They answer all inquiries promptly too.
I deal with them in person as well....since I live near them.
