Hi,
I'm a newbie to this list and to older Power Macs. I'm picking up a PM5400/120 for my kids to play with. My questions:
1. What OS should I run on this machine? LEM says, "requires System 7.5.1 through 9.1". Does anyone know which OS will give the best stability and performance?
8.6 is probably optimal. It depends on how much ram you put into it.
2. I was wondering if I could install a PCI 802.11b card in the 5400 and connect to my existing wireless network. If so, can anyone recommend a source for the card?
I'd use D-Link's wireless dongle for ethernet ports myself; I believe the 5400 has built-in ethernet.
4. A good source for RAM?
I've always been happy with Data Memory Systems' prices and service: <http://www.datamem.com>
