actually, that's not necessarily so. i've had two drives accidentally set with the same id & the new one just didn't "exist." the system can be unstable, i think. the thing is to just type the s/n into google & look for "jumper settings" or some such. also, make sure only ONE drive is terminated. if you added a drive to the computer, & it was also the only drive in a machine, chances are BOTH drives have TERMINATION ON. in that case, you may have to remove one jumper (sometimes says TE in small print next to the jumper) &, if both drives are id 0, place it on the 0 jumper (out of 0, 1, 2) which will make the other drive id 1. the last drive should be terminated (last on the ribbon). good luck! omar -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
