Hi PCI listers, Thanks for all the tips re: my 9600 w/1710 monitor problem. Sorry to be so tardy in repsonding, but I'm out of town weekdays and only have weekends to play with this thing.
I got the monitor functional again. For those interested in how, here's what I did: Started by resetting PRAM. That worked the first time (the computer had been sitting for a week). Then I recalibrated the monitor. Then I started stepping up through the resolutions: 640x480: OK 800x600: OK 832x624: OK 1024x768: black screen again. The image kind of shrunk away to the top and bottom of the screen, not unlike the genie effect in OSX. This time no amount of resetting the PRAM got it back. Trashing monitor and display prefs got it back. So it's usable up to 832x624. I need to do better than that. I've downloaded the most recent Apple display software as per Norberto's post, but am unable to get it from my internet-connected 9500 to the non-internet connected 9600 for the time being (see related posts: 9600 CD drive won't close, 9600 file sharing won't work). As soon as I figure out how to get stuff from the 9500 to the 9600 I'll try updating the AppleDisplay software and trying the recovery routine (command+option+A+V) for the AppleVision internal settings, as per Norberto's post. Thanks, Steve Zerby 9500 w/G3 400, system 8.5.1 9600/200 with system 8.0 iMac 333 with system 10.1.5 TiBook G4 400 with system 10.1.5 My unofficial goal is to get all of these machines up to 10.3 before 10.4 is released ;-) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
