Dave Elmo asked:

"Your monitor prob: did you say what card you are
running it on? Sorry, have forgotten."

I don't know what the card in the 9600 is. System 8.1
profiler doesn't tell you much. I can't see any
markings on it when I have the case open, but I
haven't pulled the card to take a closer look.

Now that I've figured out how to get the video back if
I mess it up, I've fooled around with it a little
more. It blanks out at 1024 x 768 and the next one
above that, but the highest on--1200 or so (I don't
remember exactly)--will give me a picture, but hugely
distorted. If I pick one of the two that blacks out,
but don't move the mouse when I click it, I can inch
the mouse back up in the dark and click to hit one of
the lower resolutions again and bring the picture
back.

I've downloaded the most recent version of the Apple
displays software, but haven't tried installing it
yet, or running the command-option-A-V routine yet. I
think I'll just wait till I get a newer OS on the
thing to try and get it any better.
