Russ, this seemed like good advice...
How much memory have you allocated to yIM? If you're not sure, open the folder that contains it, select its icon, and do a "Get Info" on it, then switch to the memory page. Since you have plenty of memory, I'd give it at least 20 MB, maybe more - a lot more.
...I did that; and it didn't work. I upped iCab's memory, too (it really needed more, and I'm ashamed I didn't attend to this earlier), but I still have the same problem.
And I didn't mention this before: this is a new problem. I have sucessfully called up Yahoo's email site on iCab FROM yIM before. I just can't now.
Alas, the problem remains unsolved. With iCab and yIM both radically upped in memory, I still get the same mem error.
Sometimes computers do the darndest things.
Rebuild the Desktop.
