FWIW,
I had this happen on my USRobitics 56k awhile back.. I didn't think
about it at the time, but I had moved my tower case for one reason or
another and it put tension on the connection to the modem which caused the
error.. So you might want to check the cable make sure it's slack and clear
of any twist or bends..
