You lose. From <http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/>

Windows System Requirements

    * Windows XP or 2000
    * QuickTime 6.5.1 (included)

In a way, that makes Flux' point. Win2k was released in 2000. Mac OS 9.1 and 9.2 were released in 2001. (I don't have a date for 9.2.2). So on the older Windows OS, you can run the newest iTunes *AND* the latest QuickTime. But on the newer releases of the Mac OS, you're hozed on both.

It may be Apple's foofey intent to drive us to buying new hardware and OS X... but screwing their older customer base is simply the best marketing Dell never paid for.
