The iTunes Store is not the business Apple is in.
Do you concede that they ARE in the business of selling music ? And doing VERY well at it ?
Last time I checked, Apple was using the iTunes Music Store as a tool to push iPod sales. I don't see any of the online music stores really taking off. One, buymusic.com, has already closed.
That would not be the way to go about it at all and is not at all what I suggested. What I did say was that they can give some third world outsourced
programer the instruction to add some pages of HTML to allow us to buy music off the page.
Apple doesn't do anything half-baked. Which is exactly what a web interface would be, IMHO. They want seamless integration, which is what iTunes provides. An all-in-one software package that allows you to purchase, rip & import, manage music/playlists and sync to the APPLE music player. No one is stopping you from using a Rio MP3 player and another service. There are plenty out there. Walmart.com? Rhapsody? There's nothing wrong with using an alternative if you don't like or agree with the predominant ones.

Since my car is just about to be put back on the raod I had thought of getting a 5 MB iPod off the swap list and jacking into the audio system of my 19 year old pride and joy. But all I have been doing so far is making CD's . To use out and about.
Half baked or not there is a lot of DOUGH to be made by opening a side door in the Apple website. At very little cost.
