I've got a powermac 8500 with no battery and it seems
to run just fine. I click away the error messages
about the dead battery and nothing seems to care much
after that, so I guess it's not the battery unless it
is leaking (eek!) I pulled my battery out so it
wouldn't leak. :)

So basically I don't think it's a pram thing.
