Perhaps the seating of the card. Yes, that or a dirty- corroded contact you 
scraped when you reinserted it. Common in old machines. 

  Yes there is something terribly wrong with the 8500 case. It was invented in 
HELL ! 

 That knuckle scraping , time wasting hard to work inside of piece of !!##%$^ . 
Well you get the idea. 

The solution ? A very nice 7X00 series case  ( or a 9500 ? case )
