My fault, 'bool' is typedef'ed not #define'ed so you can't test it with a #ifndef. I just discovered all this stuff is in the standard C99 header stdbool.h anyhow. 'svn up' externals/pdp/include' and try again.

also i had to modified:

char * extension = strrchr(filename, '.');
