HAH! Thanks for the first sensible answer I've received. Yup, OS X. I guess this means I'll have to Option—8 all those bullets individually?

You are using Mac OS X, then, correct?
all the bullets disappear in the .pdf. Is there a way to save it as a .pdf on the Mac and keep the bullet formatting?
This is a known bug in BOTH Mac OS X AND Adobe Acrobat - bullets (and other symbol characters) are not stored in a way that both systems can read them. Apple is doing something valid according to spec (though unusual), and Acrobat isn't handling it correctly though Apple's Preview does.
Acrobat 6 will at least warn you of the situation.
Also, does Word 97 have the capability to save as a .pdf?
Only when Adobe Acrobat, or a similar tool, is installed.
