So why
mention the number of frames shot? It doesn't seem to reflect any
discernable improvement in many cases, based on the images posted to the
PAW, PESO, and PUG. The good photogs are still good, and the poor photogs
are still struggling even after 5,000 images.

1. The thrill of not worrying about "burning" film. You can take and take
pictures and not worry about wasting film. I think that is a BIG part of it.
The
sense of relief.

2. How is bragging about how many frames one shot different all that
different than bragging about having a long lens (big glass)? Or bragging about
how
enabled one is? How many lenses one has? Or bragging that one uses only
mechanical cameras? ;-) Or mainly mechanical? Or that they take most of their
shots
the "old-fashioned way" with a 50mm? Or that one never uses consumer zooms?
(The
last three are becoming less of bragging points than they once were, of
course)

Photography, like fishing, and lots of other things, just naturally leads to
some bragging, me thinks.
