On a whim, I bid on one of these on Ebay, and won. I already have an F 70-210, so it was somewhat unnecessary, but I wanted to see whether the VS1 lenses are as wonderful as they are claimed to be.

The lens was described as being in "mint condition", and, guess what, it was.

However, this lens has a P setting on the aperture ring where you would expect to find an A on a Pentax lens. The booklet says the lens provides shutter-priority automation, but only refers to Canon, Olympus and Konica cameras.

Am I to understand that the P setting doesn't work with Pentax cameras, but that the P was left in place to avoid having to change more than just the mount when manufacturing the Pentax K version of the lens?

Apart from this, the lens seems to work beautifully. It has a very light one-touch zoom and focus ring, but there is no creep when the lens is held vertically.
