I don't think anybody (at least I don't recall) viewed JD Colour as "shady",
if I'm getting the connotation correct.  Unfair & uncaring for the customer
is more like it.

There was plenty of evidence that he did not intend to refund Albano's money
or ship a replacement.  It was simply Albano's loss as far as he was
concerned.
