Joe, I have the 2X-L converter (got it new, for free) but have never used it
with my 600mm (or any other of my lenses for that matter.
As a general rule I use only 1.4 convertors due to quality degradation.
I'll have to try the 2X-L/600mm combo some day just for the heck of it.
Incidentally, Bertha balances nicely on the Jobu Black Widow Gimbal head.
When I extend the two large hoods, though, I have to rebalance the lens. I
repositioned the mounting plate for this.
I find I have to rebalance when I switch from the *ist D to a PZ1P.

Subject: Continuing to Accessorize Bertha
I have been wondering whether it would be a good idea to get the A 2X-L
converter to go with my F* 600 F4. It's an expensive pup, and doesn't often
come up used. For photographing small birds, though, even 600 mm often
isn't enough.
I have the Sigma 1.4x converter but would still like longer reach.
Can anyone comment on the optical quality obtainable by combining the A
2X-L converter with a Pentax long lens?
Just as importantly, is it feasible to focus manually at F8?
Incidentally, Bertha balances nicely on the Jobu Black Widow Gimbal head.

Thanks,
Joe
