Pl,
I cannot comment on battery usage since I have had the battery grip
on it for quite a while and I only have about 25 rolls total through the
camera. It is time sharing with the LX. I keep the original batteries
around if ever I want to make the camera smaller by removing the grip.
I sent my MZ-S in because I saw two cases of overlapping in 17
rolls. It took one week from when I dropped it off to have it back in my
hands from Pentax Colorado through my photo store. I have only run 6 rolls
since then.
The reason I bring this up is some perceived changes in my MZ-S. I
would not have noticed it until a friend mentioned to me that the camera
made less noise than before I sent it in. I think I will take it to the
shop and compare it to the other MZ-S in the store. But after her pointing
it out to me it does seem quieter. While walking around it is a quiet
camera.
Also, the rewinding seems less noisy but just as high-pitched as
before. I will have to pay more attention.
Another point that I need to check is the data imprinting. I dont
know if you have looked at the link to the digital shots of print film
examples of the imprinting [ http://cesar_abdul.homestead.com/imprint.html
]; anyway, since getting the camera back I have only run two rolls of print
film through it using ASA 400 and I can easily read the imprinting. I found
it a little difficult with ASA 100, ASA 1000, and ASA 3200. I have to shoot
a roll of ASA 100 and compare it to before.
It is possible that things were tweaked when it went back to Pentax,
maybe not. But if the imprinting is better I would have to say that there
are upgrades that were done. Perhaps a trip in is worthwhile if others
comment on better battery life than you are seeing.
Something to consider,
