You may as well ask something along the lines of "how often do you check to make sure that your backup solutions (still) work". The husband runs windows small business server 2003 on our computer network at home, and used to use whatever it provided as a "backup program". 2 months ago the hard drive failed. We used the written instructions it gave us, step by step to restore the backup, and ended up with a computer that couldn't get all the way through booting up. Now the main problem is that when you're restoring a PC from scratch, it takes a really long time to install the operating system and then find out that the procedure didn't work. So when you have to start over, even if you've only tried to re-install a few times, it can suck down several days. After we finally gave up and re-installed the OS properly, the primary backup also failed. Luckily, we had a secondary backup (sucked off the failing hard drive), as well as a tertiary backup in another state which we never had to get fedexed to us, thank goodness. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
