Speak for yourself :-) I have been using K-mount since 1977 (MX) and I find I usually take the camera in my LEFT hand, using the right hand to take the lens off. I operate the release button with my thumb, with the rest of the hand arround the lens. I am right-handed, and feel more comfortable handling the lenses with that hand ... I have to change hands too, IF I have the camera in my right hand at that point which is not always the case, it more often hangs by my side on the strap. Or it may be on the tripod ...
