I think it depends on how often you use the camera, I do carry the camera manual from time to time, but always carry the manual for the AF360FGZ flash because I use flash so infrequently. I never needed a manual for the KX or MX or LX.

I've never used a manual in the field, although I have occasionally jotted down in my walkabout notebook some settings info that I felt I might forget.
