Puffs were a bit better armed that that ... two 7.62 mini guns at something like 2-4,000 rounds per minute, plus a 40mm Bofors gun (twin barrel if I recall correctly), and a 75mm howizter.

The newer AC-130H "Spectre" gunships started out with a pair of 20mm mini guns, a Bofors, and a 105mm howitzer. They're being upgraded now to replace the 20mm mini guns with 30mm units and upgrading the Bofors to a more modern 35mm or 40mm rapid firing piece. I think they're sticking with the 105 for its big punch.
