It's not an absolute. For the things that Godfrey does, the system which happens to use a 4/3 sensor fills more of his needs for less money. For me, it wouldn't work. For the cost of his new camera I could buy a K5 with, as I understand it, about two stops better high ISO performance. I don't think it is a case of whether one piece of kit is better than another, it's a question of whether a piece of kit is good enough to do the job that you need to do. One of the big logical fallacies I see in gear discussions all the time is people who can't tell the difference between "this piece of gear is better for what I need to do" and "this piece of gear is better". In theory, a D700 with a 24-105 (or whatever the specs are) image stabilized f/2.8 nikkor zoom is a better camera than my K-x with the DA40 on it. However if I have the K-x with me because it fits in my fanny pack but wouldn't have the D700 because it's too big to carry, then every picture I get with the K-x is infinitely better than the pictures I would have missed because I didn't have any camera with me. -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
