With out a doubt my 200mm f4.0 ED Macro SMC Pentax A*, although I've never run any objective tests to compare it with my other lenses.

Subject: PDML members: What is your SHARPEST lens?

I love Frank's sig: "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
yet there is little that exceeds sharpness as the mark of a great
optical design.
There have been several lenses that have been claimed to be the
"sharpest" in the Pentax stable, and others beyond Pentax (Zeiss
probably most often mentioned).

So I thought I would ask PDML members for their opinions on which lens
(or lenses) they would rank as the sharpest in their stable:
Overall
and
Wide Open

I do not have a GREAT collection of lenses from which to choose, but I
would have to say that mine right now, at least the sharpest wide open
is the Tele-Takumar 200mm f5.6. In addition to sharpness it has great
color and contrast. I love that lens. I have two lenses on the way
that might rival it (we'll have to see)... a Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm
f2.8-3.5 and a screwmount S-M-C Takumar 135mm f2.5 (version 2). The
latter is definitely not the sharpest wide open (but acceptably so)
but is often mentioned as one of the finest 135mm lenses in the known
universe.

What say you?
