I just made the n work nicely for me when I was in what I'd call the
Index ... I guess it is two panes because on the left is a list of
folders and on the right is the list of mail in my inbox in date order
with just the subject line showing... the "n" worked whether I could see
the whole message or just the subject line so I'm all set.
