I agree with you, and I do as little as possible to cooperate with this sort
of thing. The "I don't have anything to hide" argument is the one They use
to increase the amount of snooping into our lives that They do, but of
course the argument is a poor one (as you doubtless know) on many levels.
Not least of which is that They are building the infrastructure of a police
state on the back of it, so that even if They themselves are as benign and
harmless as They say, the apparatus is all there and in place if They all of
a sudden turn malign, or if Kim Sung-On, or China, or the Saudi royal family
suddenly take over. In addition, of course, there is the frog on a radiator
effect.
