I got some GREAT shots while I was out there! Unfortunately, they're all on
two dead hard drives -- both RAW and JPEGs! I guess my motherboard sent
voltage spikes to them through the USB as it was going down, and I don't
have the resources to try to recover them. Every shot I ever took before
this past July -- GONE.

Sorry to hear that Walt. A few years ago I had that happen to me...
exactly when I was backing up my photos. Thankfully I upload high
quality versions to my smugmug or I would of been up the creek. So
till i can find some exact working boards for the drives, i can't
recover (many times a drive can be brought back from the dead by
replacing the exact board on it with another).
