If relatively similar optically then one must look beyond the optics when making a choice. Shallower DOF. Build quality (the A50 f1.7 is notorious for aperture ring problems due to plastic internal tab construction that is apparently not a problem on its siblings lenses. Tactile preferences. etc. I've settled on the A50 f1.4 for the most bang-for-the-buck and ease-of-use. I keep a K55 f1.8 around just because it is so cheap (some people seem to prefer the 55 to the 50, but I don't think I'm one of them). I've got the equiv in SMC Takumars, mostly for my Spotmatics.
