Well, yeah. But that's a little like saying the best way to become
rich is to make lots of money. It's true, but doesn't provide much
helpful information about how to accomplish the task.

So the question becomes... why DOESN'T Pentax have a high-end presence
in Costco, Walmart, Best Buy, and other nationwide brick and mortar
stores? Just about the only retail presence I see is camera shops,
which typically are selling at close to MSRP, and which get a small
fraction of the traffic the above mentioned stores receive.

It's even rare for me to even see a Pentax P&S on sale here.

Hell, Pentax isn't even in the local Brick and Mortar camera store. Last place I saw a Pentax camera in the plastic so to speak, in any store, was in a Sears, a ZX-30 with kit lens. The camera store has had a few used lenses and occasionally the Vivitar V3800n during school camera buying season, Oh I take that back they had a few used K1000's in a small display case off to one side.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
