Thanks for the support! 

It's all going very well—just back from my second follow-up. The wound is all 
healed, the underlying tissues are coming along right on schedule. I'm down to 
two pain killers a day (all for the tissues, NO pain at all from the joint!) 
and an unexpected skin reaction to a skin balm and surgical adhesives has just 
about cleared up entirely. That was really the only hitch so far. 

From what the doctor is telling me, the tissues knit and heal in about 
three-four weeks (I'm at two), and the prosthetic and the bone fuse properly in 
about five to six weeks. My leg is still swollen so I have to keep it elevated 
a good bit of the time; that should go on for another week or so. Once the bone 
healing is done, I can start the PT to build strength and musculature. I booked 
six weeks medical leave in preparation, and I'll get a seventh due to the 
Thanksgiving holiday break. That's about right, for me anyway.
