Yes, exactly so. On the Spotmatic F, you don't need a voltage
'adjustment" so you use the adapter as is, and it takes a readily
available silver oxide battery, which is among the best of the
alternatives, so far as battery types is concerned.
The adapter is just another little part you buy to enhance your
existing camera.
Which, by the way, if you didn't have, your camera wouldn't work!  <g>
