Sung & All,

If we abduce the existence of a reality immanent in appearances then we take that reality as our object and we cast its appearances in the role of signs.

The signs of reality that come unbidden to us in the data of our senses, extended by the sense data that we labor to gather with elaborate instruments, all of that we pore over in the collective record of our observations and try to make some initial sense of in our various and sundry phenomenologies.

The models that we build in the image of reality and the imitation of phenomena may be viewed as signs of reality, too, and those we collect in our mathematics.

So it is certainly possible to see a triadic sign relation rising into salience here, organizing the relationship that exists among the object domain of reality the two kinds of sign domains, phenomenal and mathematical.

Getting any further than these amusing speculations with that idea, however, will demand that we take up consequential, effective, "pragmatically practical" definitions of triadic relations and sign relations. That will take some work.

Regards,

Jon
