Of course it's Obama's war. He's promised to "win" it and he's
increased the number of troops in Afghanistan. Promises to pull out
are just that -- promises. That kind of promise isn't enforceable in
any court of law. They're "mere words," as Thomas Hobbes would say.

To say that it's not Obama's war is like saying that the Vietnam
wasn't LBJ's war, since JFK started it. Or it's like saying that a
previous war in Afghanistan wasn't Andropov's, Chernenko's, or
Gorbachev's war because Brezhnev started it.

CB: It's kind of a nonsensical issue.

I don't think anybody said WWII was Truman's war after FDR died. Viet
Nam would have been Nixon's war, since he was the last to wage it. I
don't know too many people who go around saying Afghanistan was
Andropov, Chernenko and Gorbachev's war. But if u want to go there
then the current war would be Bush and Obama's war. Why do u drop
Bush's name, when most of the period of the war he was the President ?
Why do u want to encourage forgetting history and Bush's obvious
greater role in Afghanistan ? It's dishonest on your part.

I can go with BUSH ! and (obama's) war, unless Obama ends it.

The other unspoken issue is that there was an attack on the US by Al
Q. And further , Pakistan has nuclear weapons and a large section of
the country who seem to be in alliance with Al Q. People like Doug
didn't seem to be opposed to tracking down Al Q back when they had
suicide bombed NYC. What if Pakistan falls to that crew ? Is that out
of the question ?

Obama's saying he would defeat Al Q is no less a promise than saying
he would pull out. It's mere words and can't be enforced in court. So,
by your Hobbesian logic said mere words don't make it his war.

Thomas Hobbes ? Are u a Hobbesian ? Who cares what Thomas Hobbes said
about words ?
