Agreement on introducing the ".eu" Internet domain

The European Council has, during Spain�s EU Presidency, reached an agreement with the European Parliament on the introduction of the �.eu� top level Internet domain. Introduction of the domain will provide a new indication of identity for all European businesses, individuals and organisations wishing to be present on the web.

Informal meeting of Ministers for Telecommunications and the Information Society. The Spanish Presidency�s objective is for a political mandate to be given in Barcelona to extend the timeframe of eEurope to 2005, and for the new eEurope 2005 Action Plan to be approved at the Seville Summit in June.

EU-EDUCATION: EU countries plan to recognise qualifications in training systems

Paris, 21 Feb (EFE). Several EU Member States, including Spain, and two candidate countries have today signed in Paris a declaration to recognise qualifications in training systems, at first aimed at hotel, catering and logistic sectors.

EU-INTERNET: EC proposes plan to introduce Next Generation Internet into EU

Brussels, 21 Feb (EFE). The European Commission has today proposed an action plan to speed up the roll-out of the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in the EU, a technology which is to make practically unlimited the number of Internet addresses and will allow the development of the third generation (3G) mobile telephony.
