Unfortunatly I think while EBAY has opened up the world of collecting for
many of us it has also spelled the dismise of many machines both common and
rare due to very uncaring and inexperienced sellers/packers. I've had a
number of items destroyed or damaged in shipping and most of the time it is
because of careless packing. In these cases the claims usualy get denied
leaving many of us out our money and/or machines.
I had a recent case where an early VV-XI was poorly packaged, destroyed in
shipping and when I brought it back to my post office to file a claim they
forwarded it to the sending post office because of the way it was packed.
The sender and/or the post office has lied endlessly. The machine and my
money are now both lost. The USPS claims the sender has the item and the
sender, a very rude women, claims the post office has it. My post office
even offered to redeliver the remains back to me free of charge if the
sender would only bring it to their post office. I've tried legal action,
but gotten no where. EBAY and PayPal both have themselves setup so once
enough time has passed while trying to resolves issues between buyer and
seller there is no recourse through them, not even a negative in my lastest
case.
Of course there are many more honest and excellent sellers which is the
reason I continue to buy on EBAY.
