While I don't know much about Berliners, I'd say $3500-4000 resale for a complete, all original Berliner in decent enough shape shouldn't be asking too much. I hope others with more know-how in the Berliner department can make this a little more accurate than I. Sorry to hear about the hard times, I can relate!
