Lisa,

I am not sure why doctors are not interested in abnormal hormone levels. I have the same problem. All my hormones are either high or low, yet they're ignored. I am not being treated for anything, but I have been diagnosed with many secondary hormonal diseases.

I went to one endo who ordered the tests and checked my hormone levels, but ignored the results and diagnosis of PCOs, hypercalcemia, hypoglycemia, and insulin resistance. I was instead told that none of my symptoms were due to the pit tumor or hormonal imbalances. Then told to follow-up in a year. Needless to say, I did not return. The next endo I saw looked at those results and diagnosed me, yet offered no treatment. The only treatment I have been offered to-date is birth control for the PCOs. I declined that because of the possibility of the pit tumor growing. I have never been offered any viable treatments. When I was diagnosed with the PCOs, I was advised to see a reproductive endo. I saw no point to seeing a reproductive endo because I cannot be treated with bc. I merely live with it.

I have very similar symptoms in the morning, though they have improved...weakness, fatigue, extreme cold, sweats, nausea, vomiting... I was diagnosed with IBS and GERD. I used to eat 200 cal/day...now I eat 500-800cal/day. I eat barely any fat because I cannot tolerate fatty foods. I suspect I also have Gilbert's disease (fatty liver disease.) Seeking a diagnosis would be pointless because there is no treatment other than avoidance of fatty foods, which I already avoid.

I believe hormonal imbalance may cause allergies, but I do not have any specific research to point to. I drank milk and ate large amounts of dairy products all my life. I do not know when I became lactose intolerant, but I have been sick for several years. In the past seven years, I also cannot tolerate caffeine, soda, chocolate, msg, alcohol, luncheon meats, processed foods, citrus fruits, most high-fiber veggies, aspartame, any sugar substitutes...the list goes on and on. I have a very limited diet. I eat a lot of carbs (pasta, breads, cereal, potatoes, rice) seafood, eggs, some fruits, and chicken.

I hope that you can find the cause of your nausea/general ughness (as I call it.) Consider testing yourself for dairy and gluten allergies. I realized I had lactose intolerance after I stopped consuming dairy products for two weeks and felt 90% better. You may also want to see a GI and have tests done. You may even need an endoscopy. I had one last New Year's Eve...what a way to celebrate!

I'm glad that Dr. Mayberg agreed to look over your films...he may even order new ones, you never know! How long has it been since your last MRI? I hope you find a good neuro-endo, soon. They may refer you to Dr. Hamrahian, he was the neuro-endo that I was supposed to see. Check their credentials out before you see them. Always research the physicians before you consult them, that's the best advice I can give. You need to find a doctor who is knowledgeable and experienced.

I hope you feel better soon. Consider the allergy possibility... I would have never guessed that I was severely allergic to dairy! It may be something you do not even suspect...

Now who can go on and on??:-)

Take care.

Meri
