Right now I am just keeping Romans 8:28 in mind, and know that there is a reason the cyst was not seen during surgery, even though I don't know what that reason is. I am also praying that when I have another MRI in May, it will be gone, and I won't need the surgery.

Maria: As far as the tests for the heart, Acromegaly can cause the heart to enlarge. They did an ECHO-Cardiogram (which is an ultrasound of the heart) They can measure all the valves and walls of the heart to see if it is larger than normal. The test also shows any leakage through an of the valves. You may want to talk to you Dr. about having it done. It is only 45 minutes long, and totally non-invasive.

As far as Acromegaly goes, my symptoms were mild. My GH levels were high, but not that high. My IGF1 levels were high, but not far above the range they should have been. Since it worsens over time, I am very thankful that I got it taken care of before too much damage was done. Since surgery, there is a difference in my face (slimmer-I have cheekbones again), my fingers are already measurably smaller, and my feet are smaller. I have lost 15 pounds over the last two weeks, 9 of it since surgery. I have steadily gained weight over the past 8 years, putting me 120 pounds overweight, so hopefully now I will be successful in loosing most of that.

I am curious to hear from any others diagnosed with Acromegaly if you've had problems with IV's, and just having problems with your veins. I had three blown IV's in the hospital, and my arms are bruised from my hand to my elbow. The Dr. said that Acromegaly could affect your skin, causing problems getting to the veins, but I hadn't heard of that or read anything about that anywhere else yet.

Sorry to make this email so long. Thanks again for you your support.
