Well,

Alot of us become 'chicken' when we come face to face with a surgeon. Something about he who hold the knife - giggle.

Seriously, that is why it is a good idea to write down the questions and give the surgeon a copy and you have a copy, and take a friend with you.

I know the first time I went to see the neurosurgeon,  He walked through my case in detail and explained the surgery to me fully. I was scared to death.  He had his surgical nurse there and she gave me her card and she told me that if I had any questions after the appt, I could call her and she'd be more than happy to answer my questions. I liked that. I picked up my doctors notes later and read... Ms.. so and so came unescorted.... dang... yeah... I was alone...so?! Hey... maybe I should have brought a friend? er... Ms??? lol He was really nice though. I really liked him.

So... I thought that the next time, maybe I would DRAG my hubby. Oh.. boy... what a whiner... lol. It was a good move! I could tell the surgeon felt alot more comfortable with me having someone else with me. We had some pretty important issues to talk about, and I had ALOT of questions. The surgeon spent almost an HOUR with me.

Yeah... agendas are good.

Some surgeons will also do phone appointments too.
Doctors cannot practice medicine by e-mail. Try to remember that.
