I also think you should seek a new doctor. I had been on prednisolone ever since surgery in Aug 2002. My dose was 5mg after breakfast and 2.5mg after dinner. I had gained about 10ish Lbs the 18months I was taking it. The reason is it's long-lasting. The body sees more of it than hydrocortisone. I just switched to Cortef last month. Since then I've lost about 8 lbs. I think water retention is less severe with hydrocortisone. BTW, my hydro dose is 15mg after Breakfast, 5mg at lunch, 5 more after dinner. (5mg prednisone = 30mg hydrocortisone) So I'm taking less cortisol replacement now. Howvere, I must admit that i had more energy with prednisolone. I just couldn't stand that weight and fat I'd gained. What other hormones are you replacing? Would you mind telling me your doses, hieght, age, and weight? Take care. Hope you feel better. Paul |
