VC-1 in FFMPEG is great , but there are still profiles that does not work with the current implementation , and I'm not sure for example that the latest Gstreamer-ffmpeg is linked with this new version ?
So I would say it still useful , At least for crappy VP62 and ATRAC etc ...

Why is it so problematic ? because it's binary and proprietary ? like many others ...
