in hindsight, while it would be nice to have an "advanced" list for the geeks, i think the community is too darn small to tolerate such minutiae. besides, what got me into linux in the first place fourscore and twenty years... err, 10+ years ago was the helpfulness of others. heck, getting email from linus and alan cox was an eye-opener back then.

Agreed. How about splitting it by content? A list for
sysadmin/programming - which interest Orly and myself - and a list for
desktop use?
