LOL. That really was the ultimate RTFM moment. The user guide points out the 
options so I was under the impression this device shipped with a traditional AC 
adapter. They made it very clear that USB PD may not work for all devices so 
the scanner has a fallback mode of operation with an older set of ports.


New rule: nobody touches their email until ALL the votes are counted.

I had a job interview earlier so I did my one productive thing for today.
