Well - I believe that there is no barrel shape DC connector on the scanner
- thus only way to power it is through the usb-c power + data.

My understanding is based on this review which clearly,  IMHO, describes it
as possible down side.

I couldn't see any clear picture of back side of the scanner. The spec
sheet doesn't mention any other power input other than usb-c either.
