You're using the wrong tool. GSMlib is for phones with a built-in GSM
PDU. For Nokia, that would be (in numeric order) 6210, 6250, 7110, 8210,
8250, 8850.
The 5110i is just a repackaged 5110. It has no GSM modem, hence it cannot
understand AT commands and needs the Data Suite (kinda like a Winmodem for
dumb Nokia phones). Gnokii has some AT emulator support, but if all you
wanna do is send and receive SMS, Gnokii can do that by itself:
