hi, i think it's because intel sells 'boxed' cpu versions where they really do a fine job of placing such good cpu fans. amd, otoh, doesnt come with any preferred fan. it's up to the pc vendor to place the fan. here in the phil, plenty bad pc vendors cut corners by placing some yucky fan on either some 'non-boxed' intel or any amd chip which doesnt come with fans at all. the result is overheat.
the lesson therefore is to mind the type and quality of fan installed when you get *any* processor. and the best fans dont cost too much on the budget. once you've gotten passed your biases and easy-to-solve fan problems, it's time to mind arguably the 3 next important things for a PC's overall performance: system bus, RAM, and the bridges. that was my point in my mail where i recommended one of the best chipset and the Double-Data Rate (DDR) RAM to go along with it. these areas are usually the neglected parts of a PC's system. unfortunately, this chipset only runs AMD processors which is why i did not fail to mention that i didnt know what board/chipset to use for an intel cpu. pong On Tue, 4 Dec 2001, plug bert wrote: > Hello! > > Firstly, i am not from Intel. > > Secondly...please be advised: AMD processors are > notorious for overheating problems. > > Intel processors have a contingency plan for > overheating problems -- they just lower the Mhz's down > until the temp becomes acceptable(some sort of thermal > diode thingy, but only on P4's i think).
