Tom's hardware I would most certainly NOT characterize as an "AMD
fanatic"!  If anything, their more recent articles seem to be bigoted
in favor of Intel.

Besides, you would have to be absolutely STUPID to be running ANY system
without a proper heatsink!  AMD has given some recommendations for what
kind of heat sinks you ought to be using with their processors, and
well, if you are foolish enough to disregard these things then you might
as well shoot a bullet at your processor and see how well it fares
against THAT kind of abuse.  The test run by Tom's Hardware without the
heatsink is in the same vein.  Run your processor with no heatsink,
shoot your processor.  Both are attempts to run it outside of spec.

At the moment, AMD still holds the x86 speed crown, the Athlons still
kicking the P4 all over the place...
