I meant. For example, Solaris SPARC has full support for all Sun hardware. Linux/SPARC does not. But Linux/X86 has MUCH better driver support than Solaris X86. Which is the sole raison d'etre for running on X86 right? unless you want to delve into the wonderful world of Solaris X86 HCL's. Also, Linux is a faster kernel than Solaris (both on X86 and SPARC) for most workloads. Of course Linux doesn't run as well as Solaris on a 32-way SunFire 15K. But there is no 32-way Intel box.. .. > Yes, but does the solaris free download include the development kits, etc. > all bundled into linux? But any True [Lazy] Solaris Admin knows Sunfreeware better than s/he knows his/her own mother. =) .. > One man's no brainer may be another's mt. everest. It's depend.
